Our "little man in a fur coat"
Our "little man in a fur coat", Franklin, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at home surrounded by his family.
On Monday morning we called our vet who recommended we contact the Cape Coral Pet Crematory for what to do next.
We were so comforted over the phone by the kindness of this stranger we spoke to J.W. regarding what to do about our unfortunate circumstance.
Upon meeting, we were then comforted even more by perfect strangers (J.W. and his wife Peaches) who helped us to grieve and mourn our loss of a member of our family for the past 15 years.
Sometimes the kindness of strangers does wonders. They were extremely supportive and flexible to work with. In fact, when shopping at Publix we ran into J.W. and he came right up to me and gave me a great big hug and acknowledged me.
Instead of grieving, we have chosen to celebrate the loss of our beloved pet. He will live on in our hearts forever and we will always remember the kindness of strangers at the Cape Coral Pet Crematory.
My Little Man
I literally grew up with this little guy. He was more then the family pet. He WAS family, I saw him like my little four legged brother. I remember moving to this country with my parents when I was 5 years old, and the next day my father brought us to this house where we picked up what would be my best friend for the next 16 years. I will never forget the drive home, craddling my new puppy Mickey in my arms as we just stared at one another the whole ride home, filled with curiousity. Mickey was a full bred Duchshund. The first dog that I actually remember having. Mickey was only memory left of my father after passing away a year later. 16 long years feels like an internity, but Mickey lived a long beautiful life full of adventures, love and spoildness. As I mentioned, I was 5 years old when I recieved him. Now 22 years of age, I have lost my pride and joy. I felt lost and confused. watching him taking his lasts breathes. it was the hardest and scariest thing I had ever experienced. I didn't know what to do, nor who to call. I called my local vet and they gave me the Pet Crematory info. They highly recommended this place so I didn't hesitate. The owner of Cape Coral Pet Crematory was the most helpful, kindest and comforting guy I have ever met as an owner of a business. He was at my service whenever it was most convenient for me, even if he was out of town or on his day off. His service was incredible, and I couldn't thank you more.
My sweet Snoopy
First, I want to say THANK YOU to J.W. who made this task so easy and almost painless. I have 2 doxies, one 13 and the other was 7, I always thought my 13 year old would be the first to leave this earth, however it didn't happen that way and I was in no way prepared for what we had to do - my poor little Snoopy appearantly had cancer from what we can tell and it progressed very quickly -- we tried for almost 2 weeks to make him better before we found out that we had done all we could. When it came time, we were going to use another place in Ft Myers that we had aquired a bouchure on to do the creamation, as the vet was preparing I sent my husband out to get the cell phone to call the 'other' place as they claimed to do private creamation as I have found out that if you don't ask for private and you want your pet's ashes, be prepared to get more than just theirs. Well the wonderful tech at Viscaya=Prado asked if we wanted ashes and I immediately said we did and that we had a place, well luckily she mentioned CCPC and that they were local well known to the office and other techs...she assured me that it was private and told me the charge which was so much more reasonable then the other place - after all we had been to the office at least 4 times within a month along with a 5 day stay at the vet hosptial. When my husband returned with phone in hand, thank goodness he hadn't called - I told him about CCPC and he agreed to use them. I am so happy we did and we met with J.W. the next evening and he made us feel so at ease, as most pet owners know we've lost a family member and being treated as such is important - I know J.W. and his staff took care of my Snoopy until he was given back to me in the beautiful urn that was custom made to my specifications (photo on site). I will be forever greatful for such a caring business -- thanks == you and your staff have a 'special' place in heaven as far as I am concerned.
